About the “Myloserdya” shelter
The “Myloserdya” shelter is run by the Lviv Animal Protection Society — a non-profit organisation that exists on citizens’ donations.
Right now more than 450 dogs live in the shelter.
Abandoned, found, lonely, injured, dogs from the war zone; someone’s owner died, someone simply grew up and became unwanted, someone was “gifted” away. There are many stories and each animal has its own. We try to save as many as we can, but our resources as volunteers are limited: we feed, clean, vaccinate and spend a lot of time at the shelter — yet without your help we cannot manage.
The city allocates funds that only cover porridge — and not even for the whole year. That is why the shelter depends on both financial and physical help: we need hands for walking, socialising the dogs, cleaning, rehoming and dozens of other daily tasks.
